Esplanade

Here's a video of a bike ride along the waterfront. It was a warm afternoon. Biked the entire way using just my left hand to steer and brake, which got easier as I went along.

If you like the music, that makes two of us. It's from a 3-song set by Bliss.

I love that slowing down effect of the people passing by... it's like a little nod to capturing a moment of everyday life. Good song too.

I love how you split the images. What editing tool(s) did you use to do that?

Vlog on!

Thanks for the comments. The time-dilation/split-screen effect was something that seemed natural to me. It seems to emulate the way our eyes/minds linger on points of interest.

Jan, I use Final Cut Pro to edit. What I did was speed up the original video, obviously... then I went through and marked all the times I passed someone and copy/pasted those short clips to a new layer. Then I went through and slowed those bits down and narrowed their masks (so they appeared as vertical bands on the screen).

Another one like this is coming up. Keep the feed open.

I loved it Loved it Loved it!
I wish I had ocme up with an idea like that, PRETTY COOL!

The editing was damn goog. THe way you show select people was very creative. Oh, and the place where you where riding is beautiful! Great location to do ride and shoot stuff. And the music was perfect for it.

Thanks Juan. To answer a question you asked in another comment... I was holding the camera in my hand. I'd like to rig up some kind of helmet-cam sometime, though. I'd actually like to do four cams on my helmet... I want them on little metal adjustable stalks, so I can point them in whatever direction I like.
